Forum Outing 2013 - Day 2 - River's Edge
River's Edge. This will be my third or fourth round at this course. And I have a love/Hate relationship with it. I know exactly what holes I do not score well on.
I know what holes I do score well on (and they are very few and far between...). That being said, the course has some of the best march views in the area. And when the sun is setting (as it will just after we finish the round), the colour of the grasses in the marsh are amazing.
I was paired up with Art and Yank today. As usual, Art's game is pretty good.
For the first several holes, Art gets up and down from everywhere, he hits the ball low most of the time, and that's perfect as the wind is blowing a bit today. I, like yesterday, started well, however I could not finish.
We started on number 10, which I prefer as we get to finish on the spectacular par 5 #9. We played the black tees, which as it turns
out, was far too much for me on this day. The long holes into the wind were driver - 3 wood/3 hybrid/ 4 hybrid all day. I was two over through the first two holes before I went double-bogie-triple over the next three holes. I finished with another ESC triple on #18 (our ninth hole), as my right wrist locked up and I pushed two balls into the marsh from the tee. With that, I finished the front with a 47. The back did not get better (with the exception of a birdie on the par 3 #5 with a great put), going
triple-triple to start. I finished the inward nine with a 48, shooting an ESC 95 for the day.
If anyone is heading to River's Edge, watch for the special until 3pm. We had the choice today of a cheeseburger or pulled pork sandwich with chips and two beer for $7.95. It's a great deal. There was a little confusion in the bag drop area as the course ran out of carts, and were waiting for them to be turned in. The only other issue was that the greens were a bit slow due to overseeding. Even with the bad score, it was a great day, and I look forward to getting back there in the future.
