My name is Brian Noblin and i'm a Golf Packager in Myrtle Beach. I started this site in 2001 as a way to inform people about Myrtle Beach Golf and possibly gain a few clients in the mean time. The Myrtle Beach Golf Talk Forum is the heart and soul of this website (it's where the "Talk" is derived from) and has transformed over the years.  This is the latest, and hopfully last, incarnation of the Forum.  Here is where all of the latest information can be found, from recent trip reports to advice for a particular issue.  Over the years, Forum members have formed friendships, there is an annual Forum Outing in Myrtle Beach and occassionaly local outings where Forum members get together and play golf.

If you are seeing this notice, you are either not registered on the site and/or not signed in.  Not all of the Forum content is visible to you either.  Some of it, such as the Trip Reports, is only visible by registered users of the site and you must be signed in.  So if you are registered, that's great.  Sign in and view all of the content.  If you are not registered, please do so by clicking the Register link up at the top left of the page.  It only takes a few minutes.  Then, come on in and get to know us and hopefully participate.

Played Heather Glen on Saturday (4-Sep) and Glen Dornoch on Sunday (5-Sep).

The greens on both courses were in excellent shape. Best I've ever seen them for summertime. Did they switch to Champions Bermuda and not tell anyone??? Really, putts were medium-fast at both courses though Heather Glen may have been a shade faster. No issues getting uphill putts to the hole. Looks like they are just shaving them lower than in past years.

Fairways on both courses had good turf quality but they were overly wet. Observed a number of mud balls at both courses with not much roll. Considering our recent dry weather only conclusion is the dampness was caused by irrigation water. Fortunately cart rules were 90*.

Pace of play was good at both courses (4:15 each round). Practice range in good shape at each course and most of the balls at Dornoch were new. Staff very friendly.

It's been a good bermuda growing season in MB, but they would still have to lower the blades on the greens.

At a golfer's reception, the hotel has pros from various courses there to talk about ther courses and to hear from the golfers.  Last year one night they had a guy pro from Heather Glen and a lady pro or marketing person from Glen Dor.  I asked why the greens are usually so slow, especially at Glen Dor.  They said the super wants them faster, but the director of golf (ex-super) wouldn't let them.  Maybe they have had enough complaints to decide to speed the greens up some, unless it's a short term late summer prep for overseeding.

The Heather Glen guy told me one 9 at HG has tifeagle, but not which 9.   I have never read a report about that and have never noticed that any of the 3 9's putted different or faster at HG.

    Thanks for your report!

Lefty ... look forward to your return. But please tell Bev not too many cookies this year. They're too good and I can't have Fred show up in better condition

Bob, I am also looking forward to returning to the Beach. As for Bev and her baking of cookies. Your kidding right? NO way to stop her once she gets going.
