I was playing a round today with 3 of my good friends and was lucky enough to get my 6th career hole-in-one. It was on our 9th hole which measures 134 yards and I hit a pitching wedge that landed about 6-8 feet short of the hole.....and just rolled in like a putt. My dream is to get an ace while on one of my Myrtle Beach trips but I'm still waiting for that to happen. I think Keith Stanzel has 7 aces so I still have some work to do...... |

Well, congratulations! Wow, a six pack! Perhaps you should back off now and let some of us "ace virgins" have a shot! Kudos again! |

| 2012 will mark my 34th consecutive year to make a golf trip to Myrtle. Retired as "group leader" after last May's trip, but unretired long enough to book golf thru Brian for May 2012. |

Six! Are you kidding me! And all you others with 5,4,3,2,1 - how dare you come on this forum and brag about your accomplishment. Me and the Devil Dog are still waiting on #1! I can't believe it, this is just so unfair. OK - my tongue was firmly in cheek. Really, congratulations you son-of-a-gun. |

| With a new knee (12/14/10) I treated myself with new clubs for successfully completing rehab. Mizumo JXP 800 irons, TM R-11 driver, 3w, 5w and an old Cleveland 60* wedge. Still use the Scotty Cameron Kombi putter, use Titiest or Callaway balls, Ecco shoes (like Couples) and a Bag Boy cart bag. |

About 10 years ago I was playing Crooked Creek north of Atlanta on New Year's Day....hungover was an understatement. Par 3, 175 yards shank due right and OB. After the appropriate heckling from my buddies, I drop another ball on the tee and pure a 6 iron right over the flag and watch the ball suck right back into the hole. Talk about kissing your sister!! As I pulled the ball out of the hole, my best buddy from high school slaps me on the back and says 'Nice Par'....which it was. |

I can't play real golf anymore because of a nagging back injury that just won't go away so I'm going out alone in the early AM playing every hole from 125 yards or less. I still get spasms but not as bad. To make it at least a little interesting I'm playing as if this is where my drive landed and I'm trying to see how many birdies I can get. I'm averaging four birdies a round at this point but I know I can do better. What am I leading up to? A hole in one? Nope, I still have only the one I got at Caledonia in 2005 but the other day from the reds at 125 yards I left one six inches short dead center.

Results very much dependent on how dedicated you are to the rehab process. Hope yours goes well! By the way, I'm scheduled for a hip replacement (left hip) in mid-November. Would be sooner, but my wife had her hip replaced and has had complications... still fighting a nasty infection. Have to give her time to heal before I get the surgery. |

I've never had one either, but on my second trip to MB in 1990, I was part of a group of 20 comprised mostly of folks from Chicago and DC, and one of the guys had an ace. I was the odd duck because I came from neither of those places but knew the small contingent coming down from DC that had heard about the trip through an acquaintance in Chicago. I'm sure the group leader in Chicago was happy to have a twentieth to get his package free even if it meant someone he'd never heard of was coming along. We had a group get together the first night, and one of the guys from Chicago quickly became identified as the guy who wasn't really along to play golf--he was just using the trip as a four-day excuse to party. From that evening through the end of the trip, I never saw the guy sober.
Of course, he was the one who got the hole-in-one. Arcadian Shores, 17th hole in the group ahead of me. How'd I find out about it? In addition to the shouting we heard while putting out on the 16th, when we got to the 17th tee, the gal stationed there who was selling tickets for one of those hole-in-one contests said that one of the guys ahead of us had just won $3000 and a trip to Vegas for a national hole-in-one contest. In the parking lot, I found out that our perpetually drunk cohort had scored the ace.
I don't believe a penny of the $3000 made it out of Thee Dollhouse that night.

hats off wow not a single one for me yet. I have come close last year in MB at Moorlands had 2 of them on the same round within 1 foot. I still lost money that day.... I did have a guy get one at True Blue a few years back and a customer get one at a outing as he won a BMW for 2 years. Now that's customer golf... has anyone read missing Links and tried the hole in one trick ? It does work |

Congratulations.
Never had one myself, although I came close several times. Closest was 2 inches away !! I also have 3 eagles from fairway on par 4's and 1 double eagle but I suppose the thrill is not the same.
However, I have witnessed 4 of them holes in one from playing partners or others. Most memorable came from a man I was caddying for when I was 12 years old. Hole number 4, par 3, 175 yards. One hop and down in the hole. The foursome quit the game on the spot and headed straight for the club house and into the bar. My player gave me a $20.00 tip. Funny thing is that I had handed him a 4 iron by mistake while he had asked for his 5 iron ! I never had so much money in my pocket at the time. Caddy fee was $1.50 for 18 holes. |
