My name is Brian Noblin and i'm a Golf Packager in Myrtle Beach. I started this site in 2001 as a way to inform people about Myrtle Beach Golf and possibly gain a few clients in the mean time. Please feel free to browse about the site and enjoy the very informative interactive message board room. Please feel free to email me at brian@myrtlebeachgolftalk.com if you have any questions, need to get a quote or book your golf package!

The Myrtle Beach Golf Talk Forum is the heart and soul of this website (it's where the "Talk" is derived from) and has transformed over the years.  This is the latest, and hopfully last, incarnation of the Forum.  Here is where all of the latest information can be found, from recent trip reports to advice for a particular issue.  Over the years, Forum members have formed friendships, there is an annual Forum Outing in Myrtle Beach and occassionaly local outings where Forum members get together and play golf.

If you are seeing this notice, you are either not registered on the site and/or not signed in.  Not all of the Forum content is visible to you either.  Some of it, such as the Trip Reports, is only visible by registered users of the site and you must be signed in.  So if you are registered, that's great.  Sign in and view all of the content.  If you are not registered, please do so by clicking the Register link up at the top left of the page.  It only takes a few minutes.  Then, come on in and get to know us and hopefully participate.

Describe the type of list you are looking for.

For current courses, you could look at the Golfdesk rate list.

I seem to remember that you had posted an historical list of all courses & years they had opened & closed.
If it was someone else, I am still interested in seeing that list again.

B; I'm trying to attach an Excel spreadsheet in regards to this topic. It says 'file type is not allowed'. The attachments also does not allow a Word doc either. Is that by design or am I doing something wrong ? If you and Colby can answer, the spreadsheet expands on Art's list with architects and notes of interest. Thankx !

Kgee, Looks good. You should coordinate with Colby/Brian to add your list to the MB Resources/Courses at the top of the webpage.

If they can convert it to HTML format, they're welcome to use it as a site resource. I occasionally update it when I get time to research some of the old courses' history.

Art; I made a few revisions to the orig Excel doc after Googling some discrepancies with your list and the orig that I received. I even went as far as to call Island Green to see which 9 closed a few years ago.

I believe the final Excel sheet is as accurate as possible and I added a Word version less the designer and historical footnotes as well. To make that one consistent with yours, I did not consider a course open until it had 18 holes and if 9 were added later to make 27 (like River Oaks), they are counted as 1 course in orig year and .5 in the year the 3rd 9 was added. It took a while but I finally resolved the count to match yours of 105.5 currently open so we agree on that.

If you have any comments regarding any dating or counting differences, we can discuss. Thanks for your orig work in the past on this subject.

Kgee, I don't have any changes to discuss.

There have been courses where one article says it opened in 1982 and another article says 1983. Part of that problem is where some courses would have a soft opening in Nov and the official opening in Feb, so it would be debatable what year it opened. Before the Internet, we learned of most new courses in the newest issue of Golf Holiday, so it would appear to open that spring, but might have opened in Nov.

I started with the the Old Pro's Table menu list in the 1980s and added to it since then. I tried to make it accurate, but after about 5-10 years of being open, it becomes less important to have the exact year.

Most of the discrepancies are minor, just a year apart or so. The only one way off was Ocean Isle Beach which, by all my research, opened in 1976 rather than 1981. At least recent history, the Golden Era (post 1980-2001), is well documented and covers most courses familiar to everyone.
